Job Summary

This role manages seed production by recruiting farmers, providing technical support, overseeing training, and maintaining records. Responsibilities include distributing seedlings, monitoring field activities, managing cash advances, and updating yield estimates. After the season, the focus shifts to payment follow-ups and quality assurance.

Roles and Responsibilities

Seed Production Period (% Time Spent)

• Recruit farmers for seed production – 5%

• Assist in conducting farmers’/pollinators’ training – 3%

• Produce seedlings for distribution to farmers – 10%

• Provide regular technical guidance to farmers/pollinators during field visits – 40%

• Request cash advances for growers in accordance with approved maximum limits – 15%

• Maintain and update farmers’ ledgers on cash and material advances – 10%

• Collect seeds produced by farmers for delivery to the Head Office – 5%

• Submit weekly yield estimates by updating data in Master Data and CropIn/GRM – 10%

• Scout for new areas suitable for seed production and potential expansion – 2%

After the Seed Production Season

• Follow up on farmers’ payments – 90%

• Follow up on QA results – 10%

Educational Background:

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, majoring in Agronomy, Agricultural Extension, Horticulture, Plant Breeding, Crop Science, Farming Technology, or any related field.

• Preferably with experience in vegetable seed production and farming technology.

Skills & Knowledge:

• Agronomy

• Applied Plant Pathology

• Computer proficiency (Excel, Word, Internet)

• English proficiency

Experience:

• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in agricultural production, community development, extension work, or farming activities.
